Dallas life was not normal. The landscaping and vast natural beauty set before St. Isleng was much too surreal to be the home of Saint Helena Institution. Dallas suspects they decided to settle the boarding school and orphanage here for the healing effects the surroundings had. They should've realized how people could leave their troubles, but you couldn't take the trouble out of the kids. Yet Dallas was finding a new kind of salvation. Sure, Blaze brought true friendship, Joy Division brought the escape of music, the concerts brought thrill. Charlotte was bringing something new and exciting to him. It was love, yeah he knew it was. And he could be jumping ahead of himself with this but this was only a date. No way he was going to blow it this evening.
He would prove the uncertain girl wrong, make it all better like she was helping him make things better. Putting on his best shirt he had and slipping on some tennis shoes, he stared at the mirror for a while. He looked good, upkept, clean... Dallas looked at the clock and saw the time. He put his wallet in his pocket. Blaze had been so excited for Dallas and definitely made the date feel more real. He was going to meet her there because Charlotte had to stay late at art class and Dallas made reservations before a movie.
He took a bus into town and walked two blocks to Catherines. Dallas stood outside waiting for her, it was cold but snow was beginning to melt. Nervous but excited nonetheless, he checked over his cell phone. No messages. A finger tapped on his shoulder. He looked to see a kid not much younger than he was in old heavy clothing. 'Hey, I'm trying to get something to eat. Could I have a couple of bucks?'
Dallas realized who he was. It was the junkie everyone at school talked about. "Uhm..." he said, not wanting to be the one to support his habits because he had a feeling he really wasn't trying to get cash for food. Though he certainly looked thin and his skin was pasty. "I've got an idea, why don't you come in Catherine's with me. I'll buy you dinner." he said. The bass guitarist couldn't refuse to help the guy, though it came with a major inconvinence. The kid looked surprised but agreed to that deal graciously nonetheless.
ooc; i figured we could start that whole volunteering suicide kid plot?

Charlotte was all flustered. It was her first date with Dallas and of course everything had to go wrong that day. Art wasn't really Charlie's thing in the first place but she had attempted to take it. Of course, knocking over a whole shelf of pottery in the back closet does not get one on good terms with the teacher. She'd had to stay after school to clean, and she was a mess by the time she actually caught a bus. The last one managing to pull away just as the stop came into her view.
Eventually, several minutes late, she made it to the place Dallas had said to meet at. Her hair was all over the place and her cheeks were pink from all the running around she had done. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest, mostly from nervousness. There really was no reason to be nervous, she knew, but she couldnt help it. Her first date... There had been a little bit of midnight tears when she thought about what her parents would think but all those tears were out now and she was feeling... well, before today she had been feeling great about it. But her day had not been amazing. Of course it would be as soon as she saw Dallas.
Shedding her coat as she walked inside. Her eyes scanned the room quickly and she grinned when she finally caught sight of him. But there was another kid with him. Confused but curious, she made her way over and slid into the booth next to Dallas. "Hey," she greeted him, momentarily forgetting about her lousy day. "Whos this?" Charlie asked pleasantly, looking over at the other person at their table. He seemed familiar but she couldnt quite place where shed seen im before.

The kid was shivering so he invited him inside. Just great, was this going to totally ruin his date with Charlotte? Sure, she would understand but that doesn't absolve the disappointment. At least his, he had been looking forward to this since they set the date. It was constantly on his mind along with the kiss. He couldn't believe he actually kissed her. It left him pumped and more confident with himself. Before, he felt too shy but something really came over him when he was facing her. He just couldn't let her slip away. Well, the kid only threatened a less than awesome date. He didn't feel that Charlotte would be disatisfied enough to ditch him.
The waiter escorted them to a table for four. "I'm meeting someone else..." Dallas said. The kid looked at him, "Oh, am I in the way with something?" Dallas sat down and said "Not at all, sit." he urged. The kid relunctantly sat and glanced nervously at his menu. Awkwardness ensued at their table. His mind was blank when it came to what to say... This blank better not be a precursor to his date... if there was still a date to have with her.
'Hey' Dallas' face lit up when she showed up. 'Who's this?' "Uhm... this is... what's your name?" he made a nervous smile. "My name is Matt." Dallas nodded. "This is Matt. Matt, this is Charlotte. And I'm Dallas. Hey, Charlie, can I talk to you for a sec?"
He got up and with Charlie walked towards the outside of the bathrooms, away from view. "Yeah... I was waiting for you and he, Matt, came up to me asking for money for food. I didn't know what to do, people at school says he a junkie who ran away from home to come here, but never enrolled because he got addicted to drugs. I didn't want to give him money for drugs. I'm sorry, this wasn't how it was supposed to go was it?" [/blockquote]

Charlotte smiled a little in Matt's direction, still really confused but trying not to show it. She wanted tonight to go really well and was trying to stay optimistic. Charlie walked with him out of sight of the other kid and looked up at him as he explained. Awww. This was why she loved Dallas. She could sense a little unsurity in his tone when he asked about this not being meant to go this way, and she smiled, sliding her arms around him in a hug. "Not at all but its perfectly fine," Charlie gave a small giggle. Okay, maybe a teeny tiny piece of her was a little disappointed that she wouldnt have him all to herself but there would always be tomorrow, and if this kid needed help then that was more important at the moment. Charlie was all for helping people.

Maybe this is why the two clicked so perfectly. They both were compassionate. Still, he hadn't expected her to be so sweet about it. Her small giggle verified that she really didn't mind. He was still disappointed and almost regreted waiting outside to be met by the beggar. Oh well. He really shouldn't think like that, Matt probably did need help!
They returned back to the table. "So Matt, where do you go to school?" he asked after they ordered drinks. Matt answered 'I dropped out last year.' "Oh, so you're working?" He shrugged, 'I'm in between jobs right now' he smiled. 'You two go to school?' he asked, looking at him adn Charlotte. "Yeah, we both go to saint helenas." Matt smiled again. "That's where I wanted to go when I came here." he said. The waitress came and set down their drinks. [/blockquote]
